Each county in Indiana has a soil and water conservation district (SWCD).  Indiana’s conservation districts are structured for local leadership.  The Wells County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a subdivision of state government led by a local five-member board of Supervisors.

The SWCD provides leadership and administers programs to help people conserve, improve and sustain our natural resources through education and technical assistance.

  • Provides information and technical assistance to landowners through partnerships with local, state and federal agencies.
  • Assists landowners with planning and installation of conservation practices.
  • Provides financial assistance for projects that conserve, improve and sustain our natural resources.
  • Provides information and programs that address natural resource education needs in Wells County.
  • Recognizes landowners for their efforts to protect and enhance our environment by the wise use of our natural resources.
  • Partners with the Rock Creek Conservancy District, and serves as a member of the Upper Wabash River Basin Commission to further natural resource conservation efforts.
